A scary school

I came across this comment on the topic Traditional vs. Progressive Schools at  mom.exchange.ph and boy, it really raised my eyebrows to the top! Click this link to read on.

I could not believe that this happens for real. Kids not behaving properly will be tied to their chairs in school? What kind of school is that?! And is that even called a school?

Schools should be fun not like this. Grrr.

Asar talo

Have you ever experience that feeling na sobrang ASAR ka sa isang tao na you spend an hour or several hours of your day thinking about them…wishing them nothing but a bad day, bad night, bad hair day…in short, a complete bad life to deal with!

I used to be like this. Whenever I feel annoyed or frustrated or angry I sort of loved the feeling that I kept on thinking about the annoying situation or the annoying person over and over. Weird huh? I guess, women are like that. Since we are more emotional people than men, we tend to internalize, dwell and relish whatever we are feeling- be it good or bad, especially when we get hurt really bad…and the person who has hurt us is the one we love.

It really hurts sometimes but we just can’t let go of the feeling of pain. We try to escape from it but simply couldn’t . In the long run we realize that we have just wasted our time and energy cultivating that ugly feeling inside us. Then all of a sudden we want to change or be a new person, just so we could be normal again.

But when we get frustrated again or hurt, we do the same thing over and over again. It becomes a cycle, which only means we become more and more frustrated and annoyed. So the question now is, how do we stop it?

Here’s how. Believe in the power of the mind. Everything we are and we have and we want, all relies in us- in the power of our mind. Like what my sister would always say, “Learn to master your emotions.” Yes, so if we want to really feel annoyed and frustrated, by all means do not stop that cycle. Otherwise, control your mind, your emotions.

In short, read The Secret (hehe).

I hate Chocho!

I hate chocho.

What’s chocho? Ipis. Cockroach.

Yes, it’s that creepy, yucky, dirty pest that has survived all the disasters in the world and is even believed to be the only species that would survive until forever! Eeew.

Like Badoodles in his war of the roaches, I feel so annoyed and even feel really tense whenever I see those creatures. Panic attack!

My nose has become sensitive to their odor that I could smell whenever they are near me! Gross.

So what is really their purpose aside from being one of the agents for decomposition? I don’t know! They even spread diseases like salmonella and allergies. So why are they here?

This is one of the major reasons why you can never let me join Fear Factor. I would die slowly if I’d be attacked by these incredible creatures. (himatay)

Malunggay forever

malunggay.jpg

I have been breastfeeding my baby girl since we came home from the hospital. Thanks to the miracle vegetable, Malunggay. This really is a miracle vegetable because it does not only help increase milk production for breastfeeding mothers like me, it also has “the calcium of four glasses of milk, the vitamin C of seven oranges and the potassium of three bananas.”
This vegetable is so nutritious that we eat it really often. We put it in almost all of our soup dishes like Tinolang Manok, Sinigang, Ginisang Monggo and even in Nilaga. Good thing we have a Malunggay tree. But aside from fresh Malunggay, I even take Malunggay Capsules 3 times a day.

I’m really a Malunggay fan - forever! :)

A monster in the backseat

When we watched Lea’s concert last Friday, we had this very annoying experience with a monster sitting right behind my sister’s seat. This monster happened to be an old lady.

Encounter #1:

The girl beside her was talking to her friend in a sort of loud voice. The old lady said angrily in a louder voice, ” Excuse me! I want to listen to the music here!” So the girls just kept quiet all through out the concert.

Encounter #2:

When Lea was singing the song of Menudo,“If you’re not here (by my side)”, my sister wanted to raise her hands up and sing with Lea as Lea requested some audience participation to make the mood livelier and more fun. So my sister decided to raise her hands up and sway with the music when the monster complained again. The monster said to my sister,”Excuse me, don’t get too excited, I cannot see!” So my sister just put down her hands in disappointment and replied with an, “OK.”

Encounter #3:

A couple of late comers came and stood by the monster’s row. The monster was so upset that they (she with her son or daughter, I think) had to stand up to let the late comers pass and go to their seats. She reprimanded the late comers in a disgusted voice and said,” My God, next time you should have come earlier when you know that your seats are somewhere in the middle!”

After Lea sang her last song, everyone gave her a standing ovation. Then, the monster with her companions immediately moved out from their seats and headed back to the door.

What a relief! All of us, together with the girls who sat beside her, were so happy that they left their seats already. The girls said,“Yehey! Salamat naman at umalis na sya noh! Nakakainis! Hindi tuloy kami makatawa ng maayos!” Then my sister said, “Yes wala na siya! Kaasar talaga!”

That lady was a real monster. She was so annoying! What a killjoy! She should have bought the seat nearest the stage and watched there all by herself. As much as we wanted to respect an old lady like her, we couldn’t because with that kind of attitude, she doesn’t deserve to be treated nicely. Hmp!

Well, fast karma. Because after Lea sang her supposedly last song, the audience (as always) shouted “More!More!” so Lea went back and sang another song. Then I saw the monster watching from farthest seat of the orchestra area. Hahaha! She should have stood there the whole time.

Lea, My Life… On Stage!

100_88561.jpg

Yesterday we watched Lea Salonga’s concert at the PICC which was entitled, Lea My Life… On Stage! It was a very beautiful concert. I could not believe myself hearing her very beautiful voice. Every time she sang a song all I could do was just stare and be carried away as if I was being lifted into another dimension. Grabe. Super galing talaga! It’s my second time to watch her perform live on stage. The first was during her Asian tour of the classic Miss Saigon . But the concert yesterday really struck me. She was so professional…so eloquent…so passionate with her craft…so serious with what she is doing. You could see how happy she is with what she is doing and…and…just super WOW. Bravo!

100_88251.jpg

I could not help myself get teary eyed when she sang the songs “I’m But A Small Voice”, “Tomorrow”, “Rainbow Connection”,“Reflection”,”A Whole New World“,“Who are you”, “Sun and Moon”, “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal and “Sana Maulit Muli”. There were moments also that made us laugh and brought us back to the 80’s like when she sang the song of Menudo, “If you’re not here (by my side)”. It was really funny hearing that song but of course when Lea sang it, it was as if the song was transformed into a classic.

Lea’s voice is just perfect. Whenever she sings a song, there are no reasons for anybody not to love it. She sings so clearly and you would really feel that she sings it from her heart…with her heart… and in her heart. You could feel her love for singing. I admire her so much. I love her! I’m proud to be a Pinay because of her and I am proud of her!

Congratulations Ms. Lea! I can’t wait to see you preform as Cinderella!

So, am I being sued for my blog?

I just got a call from my mother this morning telling me about a really unbelievable news. Ms. Maan called her saying that they are considering the idea of filing a law suit against us because they are greatly affected by the email/ blog circulating the internet now. I was still asleep when my mother called and when I heard her news, I just replied with a plain, “Ah, OK. Eh di mag demanda sila.” Then we hung up.

What?! They are going to file a law suit against us? me in particular? for what? for my blog? Are they in their right minds? So what’s the ground for that law suit? Hello! I think we should be the one doing that since we were the customers, we were the ones badly affected at first because of their own mistakes. Besides, everything in the blog was true and I am entitled to my own opinion.

I just could not believe this. Actually, I could not help but just laugh at this idea. Instead na mag apologize sila ng maayos at ayusin ang kanilang mga policies or reprimand their employees, nakuha pang mag plano ng kaso laban sa’min. What could be weirder than that? Baliktad na yata ang mundo.

You know, mature people appreciate criticisms positively. They make themselves better by humbling down because of their mistakes, apologize, and move forward by trying not to commit the same mistakes all over again. But people full of pride, who could not accept any failure nor any mistakes respond differently. They either fight back or take revenge on the persons whom they have hurt.

We still have several complains against them but I did not mention it anymore since the two reasons were the main issues. Hay naku. Goodluck na lang sa mga taong concerned.

I have nothing else to say but, May the Force of God be with you!

Reasons why I will NEVER recommend The Oasis

It was my Papa’s birthday yesterday, May 9, and we celebrated it at The Oasis, an events place for weddings and other special occasions located along Aurora Blvd. We planned a surprise luau party for him since he is 60 years old already. Our family has been very busy with the preparations weeks before and we were just so excited to have this Hawaiian party.

We were all in Hawaiian costumes and so were most of the guests. We had the party started as soon as my Papa arrived, which was around 8 pm already. We surprised him with a song and sure enough he was really surprised. We were so happy to see him. We love our Papa dearly that we really exerted so much effort in this celebration.

So we started with the program. Had dance numbers prepared for him and of course ate dinner which was catered by Eloquente Catering Services. The food was great. Yummy. The servings were so generous and I am pretty much sure that everyone had a full stomach after dinner.

When it was around 9:30pm, we still had a lot of things in store for our guests, but due to time constraints, I , as the host, had to cut it down because our reservation was only from 7pm until 10pm. So I still had 30 minutes to wrap things up and cut down the program.

Now, the reason why I am writing this article and why I would NEVER recommend this events place again- The Oasis, located at 169 Aurora Blvd.

REASON #1
The AVP I have prepared and have labored for days did not work with their LCD projector.

Here is the thing. We went there last Wednesday, which was 2 days before our event - to check the place and hoping to try their LCD projector with our laptop. We wanted to try their LDC with our laptop so that in case there will be any problems, we still had 2 days to adjust it or fix any possible problem.
I was coordinating with Ms. Maan of Oasis. I texted her a message that day that we will come to see the venue and to try out their LCD projector with our laptop. This was her reply :
“Mam u cn bring d laptop on d day na lan. So far d naman kme ngkkproblem po bsta un cd/dvd na iplay s ok sa laptop.”

Since that was her reply, we were in a way assured that the avp will work. So, we went there, saw the venue which was OK. But was not able to try our laptop with their LCD Projector. We even told her our concern that we do not want any problems on the day itself, just like in some of the events we had attended.

So, when I finished the AVP last Thursday, I recalled what Ms. Maan of Oasis said about the cd/dvd during our conversation when we went there last Wednesday. She said, “Usually naman po ang problema eh kung hindi compatible yung cd sa laptop BUT not with our LCD Projector.” So upon remembering that, I just saved the file in our laptop and did not burn it anymore in a cd.

Now, on the day of the event, the technician hooked up our laptop with their LCD Projector. At first there seemed to be no problem because we could see the program projected on the screen. But when we started to play the avp, the screen just turns black. So we tried to turn on and off the laptop, then the LCD, tried adjusting the frequencies and I cannot recall anymore what else the technician did but still every time we play the avp (by the way, I used Windows Movie Maker) the screen just turns BLACK. There was audio but no video.

But what did Ms. Maan of Oasis say? She said,“Usually naman po ang problema eh kung hindi compatible yung cd sa laptop BUT not with our LCD Projector.”

So, why is it that our AVP could not be shown using your LCD Projector, Ms. Maan?

What is the reason why you did not let us test your LCD last Wednesday? Ang nakakainis kasi eh, we told you na nga para smooth na yung event pero you insisted na wag na at sa Friday na lang. So, pano na? Sayang yung ginawa kong AVP for my Papa.

Whether the problem was our laptop, the program or your LCD, eh sana nagawan na ng paraan yun. We will not allow you to charge us with the use of that LCD dahil hindi naman namin nagamit.
PhP 4,000 yung rent for the LCD. We want a full refund for that.

(When I told Ms. Maan that we wanted to refund the Php 4,000 rent of the LCD, she said that we might be charged since they already used the LCD- that is KAHIT NA HINDI NAMIN NAIPALABAS YUNG AVP NA GINAWA KO AT HINDI LUMABAS DUN SA PROJECTOR NILA YUNG VIDEO.TAMA BA?)

REASON # 2
As soon as I ended the program and bid goodbye to our guests, the a/c was shut off immediately. Everybody was still inside. The guests were already moving out but were still inside the function room. IT WAS SO HOT!

Before they shut down the aircon, there was a person from The Oasis (forgot her name) who was standing right beside the main entrance and cueing us that we only had 15 minutes…then 10minutes…then5 minutes… So when my sister-in-law told me that,I had to rush and end the program since we did not want to exceed the contracted time of 10PM because if we did, WE HAD TO PAY PHP 6,000.00 for the extra time. Ang mahal ng Php 6,000 na charge for the extra time.
Wala man lang allowance kahit 10 minutes or 15 minutes para makaalis sa loob ng function room yung mga guests bago i-shut down yung aircon. GRABE TALAGA! On the dot shut down agad! Hindi naman kayo BASTOS EH NO? Talagang gusto na kami paalisin. Paalis na nga mga tao eh, ano ba naman yung sabihin samin na i-shushut down na nila yung aircon or bigyan man lang ng time na umalis yung mga tao. SOBRANG INIT SA LOOB. IMAGINE AROUND 150 PEOPLE IN ONE ROOM NA HINDI NAMAN HIGH CEILING TAPOS KULOB NA KULOB DAHIL SAKTO LANG YUNG SPACE FOR EVERYONE…nakaka suffocate!

My God, that really ruined our night.

My brother really got furious when they shut down the a/c. He shouted and confronted the lady responsible for it. She just kept on saying sorry but what could her sorry do?

I am writing this very disappointing instance to share with all of you what happened and how they treated us at THE OASIS. The amount of money we payed was definitely NOT WORTH the kind of treatment they showed us.

Parang walang manners.

I am hoping not to return to that place nor meet those people again. Kukulot lang buhok ko sa galit.

So in case you are looking for a venue for your party, NOT THE OASIS PLEASE. Masisira lang araw nyo.(Pero kung gusto nyo masira araw nyo by all means go! Madami pang mas magandang venues kesa sa kanila.)

(FYI: Pag mag rent ka pala dun sa place nila, may bond kang babayaran na 15k na marerefund din sayo after two days on top of your rent. We paid 18k for the function room. But looking back now, SANA HINDI NA LANG KAMI DUN NAGRENT NG PLACE.
